Swimming Lessons

Last week, AJ completed her first set of swimming lessons. This is the kid who wouldn't even get her ears wet in the bathtub. The first day was screaming bloody murder, complete with "Daddy, why won't you save me?!" Talk about a knife in the heart. By mid week, she had perfected her stalling tactics. She regulary swallowed a little air and water (please note the ethiopian-bloated belly in video below.) This is a pic of her standing in the grass just before she threw-up.

And then somehow, at the end of the two-week class, she could float on her back for minutes at a time, swim the length of the pool and jump off the diving board and swim to the edge unassisted.

I'm sure kids are learning this stuff everyday, but this was nothing short of a miracle. Bravo, my little fish.

There is a fun make-up giveaway going on here, but hurry and enter by tonight.

Mama "Me"-a

Went to a late-night screening of Mamma Mia with the girls last night. LOVED IT!!!!! Can't wait to see it again - seriously. I love ABBA. I loved the musical. And now, I love the movie. Definetely see it with friends if you can, and DO stay until the end of the credits. ;)

Meryl Streep is (as always) most impressive and can sing (who knew?!) Her costar, former 007-Brosnan, although easy on the eyes, is not so musically inclined (awkward!)

Dominic Cooper - yummy;

in fact the whole scuba flipper dance scene, probably something I could watch 872 times and not be bored. (I love you Craig)

Good ole' Mr. Darcy is charming and funny

while these two really made the movie (much like in the musical).

They were totally hilarious.

I feel a Halloween costume coming on...

Gimme A Break

Lucky me - I just got back from a two-night bed & breakfast scapbooking weekend getaway. Laurie knew someone who had to cancel their reservations last minute, and we got to fill them (for half price - athankya!) So we, being the spontaneous fabulosoes that we are, headed off to the glamourous town of Weatherford, TX. We were a little unsure of what we'd gotten ourselves into at first, but it turned out to be a fab weekend. We stayed
Here:

In the garden room:

Eating food like this (this was my favorite part):

Chilaxin' like this:

And this:

Still going strong at 1:05am.

But it wasn't all fun and games. Laurie completed TWO (count 'em, one-two) Shutterfly books. Sure, I may have only done 10 pages for my scrapbook, but she was focused and rockin' out to her iPod,

while I kept getting sucked into chick flicks like these (we seriously watched ALL of these - like I even had a chance.)

These are some of the pages I made:

And this is what I got to come home to:

Life is good.

Visions Of Sugar Plums

Haven't missed a day of exercise and haven't cheated on my diet ONCE! Not one little Hot Tamale has touched these lips. Not one little Sour Patch Kid has plunged to his death down my throat. I'm quite dreaming of baked goods. Sigh.

CPS Anyone?

I am just waiting for the undercover CPS agent to stop me at Target and take away my child. I realize she's only been walking for a couple years, but GIVE ME A BREAK. This kid trips more than a drunk monkey in heels. Guess I won't be pimping her out for a L'eggs commercial anytime soon.

I Should've Been A Cowgirl

Yesterday, AJ and I accompanied a friend to the Cowgirl Museum in Fort Worth. (Yes, it's a real thing.) It was SO cool! Truth be told, I am a sucker for the old west. This is one of my favorite movies of all time:

I'm pretty good with a gun, if I do say so myself:

And there's just something about those old classic country songs.

Now if only I could get my hands on something like this, you'd all be in for a real treat...

The kids had a blast too:

Who would have thought that learning about cowgirls could be so entertaining!:

And since a still pic of AJ riding a horse is clearly not enough, take a gander at this little gem, compliments of the Cowgirl Hall of Fame Museum:

Definitely a day well spent! Thanks Lisa!

Truth

This is seriously my problem. I actually really enjoy exercising, when I get my keester to the gym. But eating right is next to impossible for me. Now it's crunch time - we are leaving for vacation exactly 4 weeks from today. If I don't kick it into gear, I'll never meet my goal in time. I'd like you to meet my new friends:

Steel cut oatmeal:

Chicken:

And Broccoli:

I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of each other over the next few weeks. :(

But then maybe I'll have abs like this guy...

although my boobs will never be as big as his.
