Girls Night In
Craig was out tonight for the General Priesthood Meeting, so AJ and I tore it up at home. We did a little shopping at Michael's and then squatted on the carpet enjoying gourmet Italian (aka Little Caesar's) and watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
I haven't seen this show in probably 20 years. I use to LOVE this show when I was little - I still do. And to my excitment, so did AJ. The little blonde boy with his cute British accent is adorable. And even after all these years, I found myself singing right along to most of the songs. Funny how those shows you loved as a child never leave you. Here are a few more that are "Dear to My Heart":
Pete's Dragon
Song of the South
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Babes In Toyland
The Gnome Mobile
Darby O'Gill and the Little People
(Don't know what this fetish was with "Gnomes" and "Little People." Maybe I was wise enough at age five to already have a crush on Sean Connery...)
The Little Princess
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Superman
Especially #2. Watched it over and over. When Clark sticks his hand in the fire in the honeymoon suite at Niagra Falls and doesn't get burned and has to expose his identity to Lois?!?! DRAMA! OK, so I realize this one doesn't exactly fit the genre, but I must admit, I was a Superman girl. And apparently, a couch potato! These are really only a few of my favs. Geez mom, ever hear of sending us outside to play?
What is your favorite childhood movie?

Looks like such a fun night in!
I had forgotten about some of those movies. Now I have a few on my 'to rent' list. :)
Holy Cow!!! I had to do a double take. I use to watch Darby 'ol Gil but I had no idea that was Sean Connery. I use to watch Wonder Woman the TV series and Magnum PI. Thank goodness I got over Tom Selek though. Candace still has a thing for leather face man. Great Post!!! Thanks!!!
I wasn't so into Superman and I have never loved Chitty, but the rest of them are some of my faves, too! I have especially been remembering watching The Gnome Mobile and Darby O'Gill. I loved those!
Looks like it was a fun night!
Wow! Those all take me back to my childhood!! It's funny when I see these movies on T.V. now and stop to watch them-my husband has never even heard of them. I guess the girls in his household never knew about the classics!
Awe, you girls are so cute! You are gorgeous Chanda :) I think the Shirley Temple movies used to be my fave when I was little. It's so cool to see them watching the same movies you did as a kid hey? My girls love to watch Lady and the Tramp and they sing along to it just like I used to!
This was such a fun post! I had totally forgotten about Bedknobs & Broomsticks! =)
I remember loving The Neverending Story.
Those are all great ones! I featured your Tunesday posts today on Tip Junkie. Look at your stats! ;) Yeah!!
That pic of you two is so cute!
I think mine was The Neverending Story. And North and South. Was I freaky or what?
I remember we used to set up our southern homes outside and "clean them". Wow, I'm glad I just admitted that.

All of these were faves - and I loved Annie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Fiddler on the Roof, and Mary Poppins. I could watch Mary Poppins every day.
Totally with ya on the Superman thing. I wasn't a big fan of all of those other weird movies though I don't know if I could sit through them. I have never even heard of some of them, I think I lived in a cave. I did love Annie though. How did I know I would be singing that theme song my whole life?
I came here from Feathered Nest who was refered to me by Julie Allen in Utah...gotta love blogging. Anyway, I totally agree with Superman. I think those were my first remembered romantic "heartbeats" as a kid. Anyway, I love your list and have one to add. Summer Magic with Haley Mills. We love that one at my house. My little one sings the "Ugly Bug Ball" song and "Femininity." I love all Haley Mills shows of that era. Oh, and we love Swiss Family Robinson. Good to meet you. Great stuff!
